About one in five households reported reducing or forgoing basic needs like food and medicine to pay an energy bill.

ENERGY POVERTY

Energy Poverty is found where there is a lack of adequate, affordable, reliable, quality, safe and environmentally sound energy services to support development. Higher prices caused by shifting from affordable energy to more expensive politically preferred forms of renewables or ‘green’ energy policies have devastating impacts on Americans pockets.

Energy poverty has no color however it disproportionately impacts minority, low income, rural and senior citizen communities the most.

  • Since fall of 2020 one-third of U.S. households (31%) reported facing a challenge in paying energy bills or sustaining adequate heating and cooling in their home
  • Despite prevalent conditions, the United States has not formally recognized energy poverty as an issue, which has limited an effective response and solution from local and federal authorities

"The solution to reducing energy poverty comes from sensible energy policy that both protects the environment and will allow for safe energy exploration in our modern and developing world."
